March: Fictional American Presidents

February 28, 2025

Things are a bit nuts here in America as far as politics go. So we thought it’d be fun to look at a time when things were simpler—one that didn’t actually exist. That’s why, right on the heels of Presidents’ Day, we’re taking the month to look at presidents created specifically for the silver screen. These are people who are sometimes idealistic, sometimes cranky as hell, and all of them seem to have one goal in mind: a better America. There are hurdles along the way of course, but whether these wide-eyed politicians get there or not, these films are all really fun rides to take. And because it’s a five-week month, we’ll manage to squeeze in a bonus episode, one of our Rewatch & Reconsider titles, that just so happens to be president-adjacent too.

Here is the full schedule for March:

3/3: Long Shot (2019, directed by Jonathan Levine)
3/10: Dave (1993, Ivan Reitman)
3/17: Rewatch & Reconsider: The Distinguished Gentleman (1992, Jonathan Lynn)
3/24: The American President (1995, Rob Reiner)
3/31: Air Force One (1997, Wolfgang Petersen)
